Natural Disaster Relief Fund When the Camp Fire of 2018 annihilated the town of Paradise, more than buildings were destroyed. Livelihoods were demolished. Dreams were shattered. Memories were lost. Among the victims left homeless and jobless were twelve groomers, three of whom were members of the CPPGA. The Paradise Camp Fire left an indelible mark on our state. With California’s history of fire, flood, earthquake, and landslides, we knew it would not be the last time something like this would happen. Then, the windswept fires of January 2025 happened. While many were ignited, the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire remain listed as the most destructive. Buildings and neighborhoods were destroyed, and homes were left as piles of ashes. Precious lives were lost. It will take years to rebuild, and this area may never be the same. To help our fellow groomers, the Natural Disaster Relief Fund is here to offer aid. Many displaced fire victims need urgent relief, and while they may have adequate insurance against their losses, payment does not come as quickly as it may be needed. Simple daily necessities become luxuries. Housing needs are immediate. The CPPGA also wants to help give people the ability to get back to work grooming dogs as soon as they can. While businesses have been interrupted or destroyed, and valuable equipment has been lost, the CPPGA wants to help groomers obtain equipment to help replace what may have been lost in the fires. This fund has grown over the years through contributions and fundraising events. If anyone knows of a professional groomer who suffers a catastrophic loss due to that is outside their control, we encourage them to contact us. Applications are available on our website and will be submitted to our review committee. |
