CPPGA Disaster Relief Fund

When the Camp Fire devastated the town of Paradise, more than buildings were lost. Livelihoods disappeared. Dreams were shattered. Memories were reduced to ash. Among those left homeless and jobless were twelve professional groomers — three of them members of the California Professional Pet Groomers Association, Inc..

That tragedy left a permanent mark on our state — and on our grooming community.

In January 2025, history repeated itself. The Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire became two of the most destructive fires in California history. Homes, businesses, and entire neighborhoods were destroyed. Precious lives were lost. Recovery will take years, and for many, life will never look the same.

Why the Disaster Relief Fund Exists

California’s history of wildfires, floods, earthquakes, and landslides reminds us that catastrophic loss can happen without warning. When it does, professional groomers often lose not only their homes — but their businesses, tools, and ability to earn a living.

The CPPGA Disaster Relief Fund was created to provide:

• Immediate financial assistance for urgent needs 

• Help replacing lost grooming equipment so professionals can return to work as quickly as possible

Even when insurance coverage exists, payouts can take time. In the meantime, basic necessities become overwhelming burdens.Our goal is to bridge that gap and help groomers regain stability — and dignity — during crisis.

How the Fund Is Supported

The Disaster Relief Fund has grown through generous donations, fundraising events, and the ongoing support of our members and sponsors. Every contribution helps strengthen our ability to respond when disaster strikes.

If you know a professional groomer who has suffered a catastrophic loss due to circumstances beyond their control, we encourage them to apply for assistance. Applications are available on our website and are reviewed by our committee with care, discretion, and urgency.
