Disaster Fund |
When the Camp Fire of 2018 annihilated the town of Paradise, more than buildings were destroyed. Livelihoods were demolished. Dreams were shattered. Memories were lost. So many homes and jobs were wiped out in a matter of moments, leaving just scorched remains. Among the victims left homeless and jobless were twelve groomers, three of whom were members of the CPPGA. The grooming community felt helpless, not knowing how to help these fellow professionals. However, with contributions and help from manufacturers and distributors, the CPPGA was able to help these groomers obtain the equipment they needed to restart their lives and grooming livelihoods. The Paradise Camp Fire left an indelible mark on our state. With California’s history of fire, flood, earthquake, and landslides, we know it will not be the last time something like this can and will happen. It's important to be aware of this and be prepared. After helping the Paradise grooming community, a balance remained in what we then called “the fire fund.” This fund has grown exponentially over the years through contributions and fundraising events. Now known as the “Natural Disaster Relief Fund,” the CPPGA is confident that we will be ready to aid any groomer who suffers catastrophic loss from one of the many natural tragedies that plague our beautiful state. If anyone knows of a professional groomer who suffers a catastrophic loss due to a natural disaster that is outside their control, we encourage them to contact us. Applications are available on our website and will be submitted to our review committee. We hope we never experience the devastation that leveled Paradise, but know that the CPPGA is here to help. |
