California Employment Law and Payroll Tax Seminar
It’s difficult enough being a business owner in California and the California employment and labor laws don’t make it any easier. There is a lot of confusion about how to pay our employees, and whether or not the people working with you are actually employees, independent contractors or misclassified employees.
While the California Employment Development Department (EDD) offers California State payroll tax seminars to help employers comply with State payroll tax laws, the CPPGA is pleased to be able to bring in a representative from the EDD to speak to us on this subject. Mr. Richard Concepcion, Payroll Tax Specialist, of the EDD San Bernardino Area Audit Office will be speaking to us on proper payroll tax requirements and this day will allow us to focus directly on the idiosyncrasies of employment in the grooming industry.
He will be joined by Deputy Labor Commissioner Ms. Heather Giammechele, who will be answering questions regarding Labor laws within the state.
Bring your questions on employment policies, payroll taxes, misclassified employees, independent contractors, 1099’s, commission, labor laws and anything else employment related that you need clarification on.
While this lecture will be geared toward business owners, employees are also invited (and encouraged) to attend.
This class will begin at 9am and continue until about 3pm..
Class size will be limited to 50. Coffee and pastries will be available in the morning and a simple lunch will be served during the break time. There will be a $15 charge for attendees to help cover lunch and table/chair rental.
Registration deadline is Friday, May 31, 2019
